Certified Organic Heirloom Kale Seeds

R27.00

Kale yeah! These certified organic seeds from Sandveld Organics contain no genetically modified organisms. The best thing about kale though, is that 1½ cups of these dark and leafy greens will give you as much calcium as one glass of milk! Let’s rather leave cow’s milk for baby cows and consume other sources of calcium. More info on this available here.

The Halbhoher variety has heavily curled leaves and is the type you’ll most often see in the supermarket. Growing your own though means you can save money and avoid bringing plastic packaging into your zero waste home. This green can be a bit of an acquired taste, but kale has many essential nutrients. Adding it to your smoothies is an easy way to get kale in every day. Soon you’ll start throwing kale into all of your favourite recipes.

All Sandveld Organics seeds are also open pollinated which means you can save the seeds to grow more plants with most of the qualities of the parent plant. Sandveld Organics is an organic farm in Lambert’s Bay on the West Coast of South Africa. The founders, Theunis and Susi Engelbrecht, are pioneers in organic agriculture on the West Coast. Sharing their knowledge and experience, they started assisting a group of less privileged women from the fishing community in Lamberts Bay, struggling with their vegetable garden. Together with the support of several State Departments, this initiative has developed into a structures support programme to help emerging farmers.
