Castile hand and body wash is an olive oil based soap with no other oils added. This all-natural soap is also free of harmful chemicals and synthetic ingredients, and because it’s not made of lard, tallow or any other animal fats, this soap is suitable for vegans.

What is so special about castile soap?

Using the traditional castile method, this soap is mild and gentle on the skin, with a rich creamy lather. It doesn’t contain any artificial additives, preservatives, cosmetic fragrances, synthetic surfactants, mineral oils or petroleum based ingredients.

Pure Simple uses 100% pure extra virgin olive oil, harvested from olives grown in the Stellenbosch Valley, to craft this all-natural body wash right here in Cape Town. Apply a small amount to your plastic-free wash cloth or loofah sponge. Its high concentration also allows a little to go a long way.

Ingredients

Pure and simple, this castile hand and body wash is made from only olive oil, natural spring water, caustic potash and either grapefruit or geranium essential oil.

Caustic potash (also called lye or potassium hydroxide) is used to turn oil into liquid soap but once it has been thoroughly mixed with the oils (4 – 6 hours) the caustic potash is neutralised – no more oil – no more caustic potash – just pure mild safe-to-use liquid soap.
