KURO-Bō Activated Charcoal Kōins purify & mineralise your water when you’re on the go. Add them to a water bottle to naturally filter tap water, to improve taste, to remove E.coli & to balance pH. The simplest, most eco-friendly and affordable way to filter and mineralise tap water.

Fill your water bottle with tap water (up to 1L) and drop in the whole pack (4 – 5 kōins). They will start filtering the water immediately, although for best results leave for 2+ hours (550ml) or 3+ hours (1L). Top up as required.

KURO-Bō Activated Charcoal has been put through a range of scientific tests to evaluate its capacity for toxin, chemical and bacteria absorption and removal, as well as its ability to balance pH an enrich ordinary tap water with beneficial minerals – all with significant and exciting results. All tests were performed by A.L Abbott and Associates (Pty) Ltd, SANAS-accredited Specialists in Water and Waste Water Treatment – Reg. No.82/04379/07. See the proof here.

How to use

KURO-Bō is very easy to use. Watch this video here to see the four simple steps how to use and how YOU can turn your toxin-trapped tap water into pure, toxin-free water that is pH balanced and mineral-rich.

After activating your KURO-Bō stick or kōins, you will have to reactivate it after one month of daily use by simply boiling for 10 minutes as per the video. This opens the pores so your water tastes sweet and smooth. After the second month of daily use, reactivate your stick or kōins again and pop it straight back into your water dispenser. After three months, remove your KURO-Bō and either reactivate them a few times more if your water still tastes clean and refreshing. If not, use it in any number of the fantastically useful ways in the ‘End of Lifespan’ creative ideas below.

Please note that as your KURO-Bō continues beyond the 3-month mark, more frequent reboiling every 2-3 weeks may be necessary to ensure the charcoal’s longevity and sustained effectiveness. My family has been purchasing these charcoal filters for about a year. Instead of buying plastic-bottled water; we fill up a dispenser with tap water and insert a charcoal filter. We then fill our glasses/bottles etc from the dispenser. It seems to be the simplest and most sustainable option. Each piece of charcoal lasts for around 3 months, which means you only need to purchase 4 a year! I’d definitely suggest this option to my friends; especially during Cape Town’s drought.
