The Mpower Menstrual Cup is a menstrual management solution for all women and is made in Cape Town, South Africa. It is a non-absorbent reusable barrier cup that collects menstrual blood. Our top priorities when choosing cups to add to our product line at Shop Zero™ are making sure these menstrual cups are manufactured of high-grade medical silicone and have (at the very least) received FDA approval.

The Mpower Menstrual Cup comes in 2 sizes and is made from medically approved, 100% pure silicone (which means no impurities like colour) in an FDA certified factory. Local design and manufacture ensures that safety and design standards are monitored and controlled by the owner.

The storage bag provided with each cup is made by a community project based in Ottery, Western Cape.

Choose from two sizes – light and standard. The small size (also known as light is for young girls and women who have not yet given birth. The larger cup (also known as standard) is for those who have given birth, are over 28 and engage in regular intercourse. The small Lunette Cup is also great for teenagers and women who exercise a lot will also benefit from a Lunette Cup. We suggest reading reviews online to help you make your decision.

In the event of leakage:

If the Mpower menstrual cup is properly positioned, you won’t feel it and you shouldn’t feel uncomfortable or experience a leak. This video may be helpful if your cup leaks, but here is some extra information: While we are menstruating, the position of our cervix tends to change. For some it will be straight and for others it will be a bit tilted to one side. It can also change during our period.

You can locate your cervix in the upper part of your vagina. It feels like the tip of a nose. If you can’t locate it, then it just means yours is deep enough not to affect the cup. Just before inserting your cup, make sure you know where your cervix is and insert the cup towards it so that your cervix will rest inside the cup. You can use your pelvic muscles to make sure it is in the right place.

Sometimes it may be pushing against your cervix which might be really sore. Take the time to make sure it is positioned well. It may take some time in the beginning when stating to use a menstrual cup but trust us, once you master it, you won’t look back.

  1. Mithea Murray

I bought this item from the store over a month ago. The store assistant was really helpful in helping me choose my first menstrual cup and it has been so worth it thus far. In the beginning it has been quite a challenge for me but I will keep trying. I love the fact that I will be saving a lot of money by not spending on sanitary towels each month and I love that I dont send them to land fill anymore. Great investment!!
