Silver Grey, Black, Olive Green, Orange, White
These bags are made of reject parachute material and are approximately the same size as the average plastic shopping bag. They have wide, longer handles so they can be carried over the shoulder or in the hand. They have a little pocket sewn to tuck the bag into, are strong and should last for years.
Nicola Vernon, founder of the Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary, started a project in Greyton where she mentors six ladies and one gentleman from Genadendal to produce these bags as alternatives to single-use plastic bags. The ladies are all previously unemployed women either through lack of jobs available or because they are confined to the home due to disability, or because they are caring for children or for elderly relatives. These skilled seamstresses earn a good wage and it gives them pride and independence. They voted to have Marshall to be the interface between Nicola and them because they felt they needed a man for heavy carrying of all the bags and because they like him!
We are proud to sell these locally made bags and a portion of proceeds from these bags go to Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary. They have rescued a few horses and cows who have ingested plastic shopping bags so your support will help to pay Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary’s vet bills. Moreover, using a reusable shopping bag will prevent plastic bags from reaching landfill, the oceans or worse.
