Copper Juice Straw Etched Finish
It is common knowledge that plastic straws are one of the most harmful plastic items – far worse than others as they are classified as “single-use” plastic. These items have a shockingly short lifespan, normally used once and then discarded to landfill. Like other plastics, they never biodegrade and take up to 200 hundred years to break down.
Why copper straws are a great alternative:
Safe to use.
Not harmful to people or the environment.
Efficacy as an antimicrobial is scientifically proven to be far more effective than silver-containing
Proven to continuously kill the microbes that cause infections.
The only solid metal touch surface approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Never wears out, continuous and ongoing antimicrobial action.
Remains effective even after repeated wet and dry abrasion and re-contamination.
Natural oxidation does not impair efficacy.
Inherently antimicrobial, no chemicals added.
Do not put in the dishwasher. Wash with warm soapy water and our straw cleaner available for purchase here or here. As copper reacts with oxygen in the air it can change its colour to dark brown or black. This happens naturally due to a chemical reaction known as oxidation. Simply squeeze half a lemon, add 1 tablespoon of salt and rub the mixture onto the straw with a soft cloth until the stains are gone. Rinse thoroughly and dry well. (If lemons are not available to you, you can use vinegar instead. Mix 1 tablespoon salt with 2 tablespoons of vinegar.)
