Mange-Tout Oregon Heirloom, Mange-Tout Sugar Snap
Grow your own sugar snap peas for a quick and easy plastic-free snack you can take on the go. This edible pod pea can be eaten raw or briefly cooked and is especially delicious with olive oil, lemon zest, salt and pepper. Sugar snap is a climber type mange tout while the oregon sugar pod variety is a bush type mange tout. Sandveld Organics seeds are all certified organic and contain no genetically modified organisms.
Sandveld Organics is an organic farm in Lambert’s Bay on the West Coast of South Africa. They’re a supplier of certified organic seeds that are open pollinated. This means that you can save your own seeds to grow more plants with most of the qualities of the parent plant.
The Sandveld Organics founders, Theunis and Susi Engelbrecht, are pioneers in organic agriculture on the West Coast. Sharing their knowledge and experience, they started assisting a group of less privileged women from the fishing community in Lamberts Bay, struggling with their vegetable garden. Together with the support of several State Departments, this initiative has developed into a structures support programme to help emerging farmers.
The best time of the year to sow your sugar snap and oregon sugar pod organic seeds is from February to July.
Grows well with carrots, herbs, maize and salads, but does not grow well with garlic, onions, leek and spinach. Needs lots of water with low fertilisation. Full planting instructions on back of packaging.
